The UK will be requiring Biometrics for entry
According to the UK Visas web site
“More people will face checks before entering the UK under a new strategy by the Home Office to tighten the UK’s border controls, Immigration Minister Liam Byrne announced today.
The strategy entitled ‘Securing the UK Border’ sets out how the Government will use technology to select those people it wants to enter the UK and to deny entry to those it does not, even before they get here.”
Countries wishing to join the “no visa required” list must:
- issue secure passports (biometric based)
- have low levels of crime and terrorism and
- actively work with the UK to take back nationals who have entered the UK illegally
For those from countries where a visa is not required to enter the UK, the Home Office require their fingerprinting at the UK border for all non-EEA nationals by 2011.
